Aims & Objectives

Expose the students to the field of Health Care Telematics (HCTs). Personalized and Ubiquitous HCTs enhance the establishment of advanced telemonitoring processes within the open health domain. Combining schemes of the real word patient’s acquired biosignals with advanced profiling records are examined from both medical and engineering point of view.

Learning outcomes & Competences

The students will be able to simulate an HCT procedure and be aware of the state-of-art in Telehealth Services.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in advanced telematics services, telemedicine, patients’ telemonitoring, profiling systems.

Content

Introduction to Telemedicine, Telematic Services and Networks
Introduction to Profiling Systems
Basic aspects on personalized healthcare
Basic aspects on ubiquitous healthcare
Medical Informatics Protocols (BAN, HL7, Dicom, etc)
Learning of connectivity and data transfer capabilities of the advanced packet based telecommunication infrastructures
Learning of telecommunication services creation and delivery over of the advanced packet based telecommunication infrastructures
Analysis of the Body Area Networks (BAN) and Pico Networks
Design issues of the HCTs (security, data acquisition, profiles management, etc)
Deployment issues of the TSs (open HCT delivery platforms)
Application of HCTs in anxiety telemonitoring
